Andrew Young

Andrew Young is an American civil rights leader, politician, and diplomat. He is best known for his role in the civil rights movement of the 1960s, particularly as a close associate of Martin Luther King Jr. Young served as the executive director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and played a significant role in various protests and initiatives advocating for racial equality. In addition to his activism, he was elected as the mayor of Atlanta, Georgia, serving from 1982 to 1990. Young also held the position of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from 1977 to 1979.
